Les poèmes de Tyler, The Creator & Kanye West pour le magazine de Frank Ocean

Il se revend entre 500 et 1 800 euros sur eBay, mais au départ Boys Don’t Cry, le magazine de Frank Ocean, est distribué gratuitement dans plusieurs pop up stores de New York, Chicago, Los Angeles et Londres. Décliné en trois couvertures différentes, il propose un seul et même contenu sur 366 pages et inclut une version physique de Blond, l’album de Frank Ocean sorti dimanche. S’y ajoutent deux titres exclusifs : « Mitsubishi Sony » et « Easy », et la présence du rappeur japonais KOHH sur « Nikes ».

Le magazine intègre des créations artistiques réalisées aux quatres coins du monde : par l’artiste plasticien new-yorkais Tom Sachs et l’Allemand Wolfgang Tillman, en passant par la photographe néerlandaise Vivian Sassen (auteure d’un superbe travail sur les identités), Harley Weir, les photographes britanniques Tyrone Lebon et Michael Mayren, le chinois Ren Hang – aux nus désormais célèbres – ou encore Jim Mangan et Nabil Elderkin, photographe, réalisateur et collaborateur de longue date de Kanye West, que nous rencontrions l’an dernier pour évoquer ses coups de coeur culturels.

On y trouve également quelques poèmes. Boyfriend d’abord, rédigé par Frank Ocean lui-même, où l’artiste décrit son homme idéal. Et sur un tout autre registre, un poème en prose de Tyler, The Creator à propos des voitures (la passion de son ami Frank)… et une ode-surprise de Kanye West au McDonald’s – dont il faut bien citer, ici, les vers les plus illustres : « I knew the diet Coke was jealous of the fries / I knew the McNuggets was jealous of the fries » (« Je savais que le Coca light était jaloux des frites. Je savais que le McNuggets était jaloux des frites »).
